Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects communication, social interaction, and behaviour, characterised by repetitive actions and issues with socializing.
In 2023, the CDC reported that approximately 1 in 36 children is diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder. Boys are four times more likely to be diagnosed with autism than girls.
Most parents seek medical help only when children reach the age of three or four, when their speech starts to develop. But early signs of autism can be detected when they are a year old, the condition can be significantly improved with early detection and intervention.
